Conversion Van Industry Down Turn
Conversion van manufacturers are suffering through a chassis shortages due to the economic down turn. G.M. particularly, is closing plants and has diminished their production. Consequently a few manufacturers have gone out of business. Some of the names that are gone are Regency, Chariot, Quality Coach, Santa Fe Automotive, L.A. West, Choo Choo Conversions, Elk Automotive, Sherry Designs, Midwest Vans and Gulfstream among others.
The good news is that a few of the better manufacturers are doing well. Among them are Tuscany Automotive, Majestic Vans and Midwest Automotive Design. Although vans are hard to find on the dealer lots they are still being produced and are still one of the best ways to travel.
